On the other hand the 55-250 has an excellent reputation and starts out at F4, as the EF 24-105. So you would not loose much light, compared to the EF. It is half the weight and will give you much more reach.

The EF 17-40 f/4L USM and the EF 24-70 f/2.8L USM are the two lenses that are most often considered along with the 24-105L when making a lens purchase. The 17-40 is not stabilized, but it is the same speed and goes much wider, and is much less expensive. If you want a landscape lens, this one may be a better choice.
A used EF 24-105 f/4 costs about the same as the rf 24-105mm f4-7.1. My gut feeling is to go for the EF, but what do you think? I was originally using the RF 24-105 kit for over a year before recently getting EF 24-105. I can say that I think the kit really does work well for a kit lens, and if you went that route you would still be pretty happy.
